Dr. Orvis has been our family dentist since 1969. My husband and I had just married and moved to Fond du Lac. Our friend who went duck hunting with Dr. Johnson suggested his services....he has been our one and only dentist for the past 40 years.

The one thing I appreciate a lot about Dr. Johnson his how he takes the time to "teach" our family preventive dental care. Even though my parents were well educated in most other things, the family "tradition" was to have false teeth when one reached about 40-50 years old.....I assumed I would do the same.

As a child, my family went to the dentist only when we had tooth pain....and I remember so crystal clear, when my sister who was eight years older then me, came home from college....and she told me she brushed her teeth EVERY DAY! I don't remember having my own toothbrush growing up, but I must have.

In 1974, when Dr. Johnson had his office in a small house in North Fond du Lac, I remember him asking me if I didn't think something was wrong because my gums were bleeding all the time when I brushed...and that I had cavities every time I went to the dentist...I don't remember my answer, but I do remember THINKING, "No, what is so strange about that?"

That was the beginning of my dental care reform. It took years, but he was finally able to teach me, my husband, and our two children HOW TO take care of our teeth/mouth. Thank the Lord Dr. Johnson, and our still dear friends, both enjoyed hunting together. OUR friends moved out of Fond du Lac in 1972, but Dr. Johnson still remains here, and he hope he remains for many, many more years!!

P.S. Before Dr. Johnson, my husband had to take tranquilizer pills in order to sit in a dentist chair...I'm sure Dr. Johnson remembers his first appointment with Larry! Now he has dental check-ups with Dr. Johnson regularly without fear.
